What’s the Problem?
February 24, 2017 – The lawsuit was filed by Plaintiff Matthew Huff, who in 2013 was implanted with a Physiomesh hernia patch, which was stitched into his abdominal wall to help repair a ventral hernia.
In July 2015, Huff was hospitalized after suffering complications including severe abdominal pain, fever, nausea, chills, and redness. He was diagnosed with an infection and treated for two abscesses and an intestinal fistula.
As a result of these problems, Huff was left with 2 open abdominal wounds that required daily cleaning and packing, according to the lawsuit.
The case is set for trial on January 22, 2018 before Judge J. Phil Gilbert. It was originally filed on April 1, 2016 in the Southern District of Illinois.
The case is In Re: Matthew Huff v. Ethicon Inc. — Case No. 3:16-cv-00368.
