What’s the problem?

October 25, 2017 – Plaintiff in the case states that soon after he underwent surgery to repair a ventral (abdominal) hernia in February 2013 with Physiomesh, he began developing severe health complications.
Within 2 years of the initial surgery, Plaintiff was back in the hospital presenting with chronic abdominal pain and a bulge in his abdomen, which was subsequently determined to be “eventration” of the mesh, where the mesh protrudes through the abdominal wall.
The decision was made to remove the mesh, and the plaintiff was forced to undergo yet another painful and time-consuming surgery. During the procedure, one of the physicians noted “dense omental adhesions to the abdominal wall and the region of the mesh….” and that he had to remove part of the abdominal lining, and actually dissect it to get all of the mesh out.
The suit was originally filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, but was subsequently transferred to the Northern District of Georgia, where all federal claims alleging damages from Physiomesh have been centralized into a multidistrict litigation (MDL) before Judge Richard W. Story.
Plaintiff is suing for pain and suffering, permanent impairment, medical expenses, economic damages, lost wages and/or earning capacity.
