Update: 3rd Woman Alleges Sexual Assault from Massage Envy Therapist in Minnesota

March 29, 2018 – A third client of a massage therapist at a Massage Envy spa in Eden Prairie, MN, has accused him of sexually assaulting her, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Mitchell Le Dac Ho was charged Monday in Hennepin County District Court with 3rd degree criminal sexual conduct in the alleged incident at the Massage Envy in the Windsor Plaza mall near Flying Cloud Drive on Jan. 1, 2016.

What’s the Problem?

November 27, 2017 – An investigation by BuzzFeed News found more than 180 women have accused Massage Envy masseurs of groping and other illicit sexual acts. The company said these incidents have been astonishingly low, considering they’ve done 125 million massages over the past 15 years.

Susan Ingram, one of the women who has come forward against Massage Envy, said her masseur turned into a sex-crazed maniac during her 7th massage in 2015.

“I was really in a state of shock, disbelief, fear,” Ingram said.
She claims the abuse began when James Deiter started rubbing his groin against her.

“He lifted up my body, groped both of my breasts roughly and aggressively,” Ingram said. “Put his hands down to the lower part of my body.”

Too incensed to report the incident, she called the manager of the Massage Envy location after she got home.

“She said in a very apparently scripted response, ‘We invite you in to talk about your services,’” Ingram claims. “And I said, ‘No, no, no you don’t understand.'”

Ingram is just one of over 180 women who filed sexual assault lawsuits, police reports or state board complaints against Massage Envy and their employees. More than 100 of these allegations contend that massage therapists groped their genitals, breasts, and/or committed other explicit sex acts.

Can I Participate in a Class Action Against Massage Envy?

Our lawyers have decided against filing a class action lawsuit over sexual assault charges alleged against Massage Envy employees. We have decided on this course of action because we feel it is in the best interest of our clients, as class action lawsuits in this type of litigation often result in blanket settlement deals in which all class members are offered a small fraction of what their case is worth in exchange for hurrying the cases through court.

That doesn’t mean you’re out of luck if you’re a victim. Our lawyers are now filing individual lawsuits for people who were harmed by Massage Envy masseurs. Contact us today to learn more about your legal rights.
