Latest Updates
On September 10, 2026, Guang Zhou Sheng Peng Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. of China announced a voluntary recall of Wantefully Hair Dryer Brushes in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) [1]. The recall was designated a Fast Track Recall. The hair dryer brushes were manufactured in China and sold exclusively on Amazon.com.
What Product Is Affected?
The recall covers the Wantefully 2 in 1 Hair Dryer & Styler, One Step Hair Dryer Brush Straightener, and Negative Ion Electric Hot Air Blow Dryer Comb — a black hot air dryer paddle brush with a striped pink design, brush bristles, and three heat settings, with model number XR-8801 and brand name XRUI printed on the top of the product packaging. The recalled hair dryer brushes were sold exclusively on Amazon.com from February 2026 through March 2026 for approximately $30.
A Regulatory Violation and a Real-World Burn Hazard
Federal regulations require that all hair dryers sold in the United States include an integrated immersion protection device — a safety mechanism designed to instantly cut power if the appliance comes into contact with water while plugged in. The Wantefully hair dryer brush lacks this required device entirely, meaning that if it falls or is dropped into a bathtub, sink, or any other water source while still connected to power, it can cause electrocution or death.
Separate from the regulatory violation, the recalled product can also overheat during normal styling use — posing a burn hazard to anyone using the brush on their hair, scalp, or skin. That overheating hazard is confirmed by a consumer report of the product melting during normal use, which represents a real-world injury risk independent of the immersion protection deficiency.
Incidents and Injuries
Guang Zhou has received one report of the recalled Wantefully hair dryer brush overheating and melting during use. No injuries have been reported in connection with the recalled product as of the September 10, 2026 recall date.
What Should Consumers Do?
Consumers who own a recalled Wantefully Hair Dryer Brush should unplug it and stop using it immediately. To receive a full refund, consumers must cut the power cord and send a photograph of the destroyed product to wantefully@163.com.
After submitting the photo, the destroyed product should be disposed of. Consumers may contact Guang Zhou directly by email at wantefully@163.com for refund instructions and any additional assistance.
Can I File a Lawsuit?
Consumers who suffered burns, electric shock, or other injuries from a recalled Wantefully Hair Dryer Brush may have significant legal options against Guang Zhou and Amazon. Contact an attorney promptly to have your case evaluated.
