On September 10, 2026, Shenzhen Weihua Chenyu Technology Co., Ltd. dba Junkins of China announced a voluntary recall of DHASUWT Hair Dryer and Blow Dryer Brushes in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) [1]. The recall was designated a Fast Track Recall. The hair dryer brushes were manufactured in China and sold exclusively on Amazon.com.
What Product Is Affected?
The recall covers the DHASUWT Hair Dryer and Blow Dryer Brush — a black hot air dryer paddle brush with a pink design and brush bristles, featuring three heat settings. The product is sold under the full name “DHASUWT Hair Dryer and Blow Dryer Brush in 1, Negative Ion Hair Dryer Brush, 1Step Ionic Hair Straightener Brush Hair Dryer Hot Air Brush, Hair Styling Tool Straightening Dryer,” with model number XR-8801 and brand name XRUI printed on the top of the product packaging. The recalled hair dryer brushes were sold exclusively on Amazon.com from October 2024 through June 2026 for approximately $27.
Two Distinct Hazards
The recalled hair dryer brushes present two separate and serious hazards. First, the product violates federal regulations for hair dryers because it lacks an integrated immersion protection device — a safety requirement specifically designed to cut power instantly if the appliance comes into contact with water while plugged in. Without this protection, a hair dryer brush dropped into a sink, bathtub, or other water source while still plugged in can cause electrocution or death.
Second, separate from the missing immersion protection, the recalled hair dryer brushes can smoke and catch fire during normal use — a thermal hazard that has already been documented in 10 consumer incident reports. Federal law considers both the missing safety device and the smoking and fire incidents to constitute a substantial product hazard to consumers.
Incidents and Injuries
Junkins has received 10 reports of the recalled hair dryer brushes smoking or catching fire during use. No injuries have been reported in connection with either the fire or the electrocution hazard as of the September 10, 2026 recall date.
What Should Consumers Do?
Consumers who own the recalled DHASUWT Hair Dryer and Blow Dryer Brush should unplug it and stop using it immediately. To receive a full refund, consumers must cut the power cord and send a photograph of the destroyed product to DHASUWT_recall@163.com.
