Recall Details and Affected Products
Retail prices ranged from $2,100 to $8,100 depending on model and features. The affected treadmills feature a running platform measuring 60 inches long by 20 inches wide paired with a 33-inch-wide console.
All recalled units were originally sold with a straight power cord configuration lacking a power cord bracket. Either “Matrix” or “Vision” branding appears printed on the treadmill frame and belt.
Model numbers and frame serial numbers can be located on the lower front crossbar positioned near the power switch. Serial numbers follow a specific format including the letters TM, a three-digit model number, and the manufacture date in YY/MM format followed by a five-digit serial number.
The recalled treadmills were manufactured between June 2007 and January 2024 [1].
Where Recalled Treadmills Were Sold
The recalled exercise equipment was distributed through multiple retail channels nationwide. Physical retail locations included JFW, G&G Fitness, Precision Fitness, Fitness Expo, Fitcorp USA, Better Body Fitness of Montana Inc, BGI Fitness, Treadmill Outlet, Colorado Home Fitness, and various other fitness equipment retailers.
Online distribution occurred through matrixhomefitness.com, visionfitness.com, and numerous other online retailers. This widespread distribution network means affected treadmills are located in homes and facilities across the United States.
Fire Hazard
Federal safety regulators have identified a critical electrical defect in these exercise machines. The power cord can work loose from the treadmill’s power socket during use, creating electrical connection failures.
When electrical connections become loose or intermittent, they generate excessive heat at the contact points. This overheating presents serious fire risks that can result in property damage or injuries to users and household members.
Incidents and Injuries
Johnson Health Tech has received more than two dozen reports of overheating incidents involving the recalled treadmills. These overheating events demonstrate the serious nature of the defect affecting these exercise machines.
No injuries have been reported to date. However, the frequency of overheating incidents indicates a significant safety problem requiring immediate consumer action.
Recall Expansion Background
This recall represents an expansion of a prior safety action affecting Matrix T1 and T3 Series Commercial Treadmills. The original recall also addressed loose power cord issues creating fire hazards.
The prior commercial treadmill recall remedy involved a power cord bracket requiring tools for installation. This expanded recall offers a different solution: a replacement power cord featuring an automatic locking-style plug that requires no tools for installation.
What Consumers Should Do
Owners must inspect their treadmills to determine whether a power cord bracket has already been installed. Units without a bracket require immediate attention to prevent fire hazards.
If no power cord bracket is present, consumers should ensure the power cord is completely inserted into the treadmill’s power socket before each use. This temporary measure should be followed until the permanent remedy is installed.
Consumers should contact Johnson Health Tech North America to request a free replacement power cord with an automatic locking-style plug. The company can be reached toll-free at 800-211-4590 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday.

Product Identification by Serial Number
Only treadmills with specific serial number ranges are included in this recall expansion. Consumers must verify their unit’s serial number against the ranges provided by the CPSC to determine if their treadmill is affected.
Serial numbers for recalled units vary by model and can be found in the official CPSC recall notice. Checking the serial number is essential because not all Matrix Retail and Vision treadmills manufactured during this period are included in the recall.
Understanding Fire Hazards from Electrical Defects
Loose electrical connections create resistance at the contact point, generating heat during current flow. When treadmills draw significant electrical power during operation, even slight connection looseness can produce dangerous temperatures.
Electrical fires can start rapidly and spread to surrounding materials before users notice the problem. Treadmills located near combustible materials like carpeting, curtains, or exercise equipment create additional fire spread risks.
Do I Have a Matrix Treadmill Recall Class Action Lawsuit?
If you purchased a Matrix Retail or Vision treadmill and experienced overheating incidents, discovered a loose power cord, suffered property damage, or were injured due to fire hazards from this defect, you may be eligible to pursue legal action. Attorneys are currently investigating potential class action lawsuits on behalf of affected consumers, particularly given the more than two dozen reported overheating incidents and the widespread distribution of approximately 47,000 defective treadmills.
