On June 4, 2026, Wyze Labs, Inc. of Kirkland, Washington announced a voluntary recall of its Solar Cam Pan Security Cameras in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) [1]. An additional 2,560 units were sold in Canada. The cameras were manufactured in China and imported by Wyze Labs, Inc.

What Products Are Affected?

The recall covers the Wyze Solar Cam Pan Security Camera, model number WYZESCPWH, sold in white. The camera is a wire-free, outdoor lithium-ion battery-operated security camera with motorized pan-and-tilt functionality and an integrated solar panel. The model number is located on the back of the camera.

The recalled cameras were sold at Home Depot and Micro Center, and online at Wyze.com, Temu, Amazon, B2B Renew, Inc., ReturnPro, and Best Buy from October 2025 through April 2026 for approximately $80. Not all units are affected — consumers who used the long, flat-head screw to install the solar panel on top of the camera should participate in the recall. Consumers uncertain about which screw was used should visit www.wyze.com/SCPrecall for identification guidance.

What Is the Hazard?

The camera’s assembly instructions are incorrect and can lead consumers to accidentally use the wrong screw when attaching the solar panel on top of the unit. Using the long, flat-head screw — which is intended for mounting the unit to the side of a house — rather than the short, pan-head screw to attach the solar panel can puncture the lithium-ion battery’s metal casing, causing the battery to rapidly overheat and posing a serious risk of explosion, fire, and burn injury.

Incidents and Injuries

Wyze Labs has received 13 consumer reports of the recalled cameras overheating. Six of those incidents involved the camera exploding and catching fire, and six consumers reported suffering minor burns as a result.

What Caused the Recall?

The root cause of the recall is defective assembly instructions included with the camera. The incorrect instructions directed consumers to use the long, flat-head screw to attach the solar panel directly on top of the camera — a step that can drive the screw through the lithium-ion battery casing. Once the battery casing is punctured, the battery is susceptible to rapid, uncontrolled overheating known as thermal runaway, which can result in fire or explosion.

What Should Consumers Do?

Consumers who own the recalled Wyze Solar Cam Pan should stop using it immediately and visit www.wyze.com/SCPrecall to determine whether their specific device is affected. Wyze Labs is offering affected consumers a free replacement camera with a solar panel accessory, a full refund, or a gift card for the original purchase price to use on its website.

Consumers must attest to disposal of the recalled camera and should dispose of it in accordance with local and state regulations — the camera’s lithium-ion battery must not be placed in regular trash, curbside recycling, or standard used-battery collection boxes. Consumers may also contact Wyze Labs toll-free at 888-832-7226, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. CT, or by email at recall@wyze.com.

Can I File a Lawsuit?

Consumers who purchased the recalled Wyze Solar Cam Pan Security Camera — particularly those who suffered burn injuries or property damage when the camera overheated, exploded, or caught fire — may have significant legal options. A class action lawsuit could allow affected consumers to seek compensation for medical expenses, property damage, pain and suffering, lost wages, and other related losses.
