Latest Updates
On May 21, 2026, Lil Pick Up Inc. of Rowland Heights, California announced a voluntary recall of approximately 700 Sierra 125U Youth ATVs in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) [1]. No injuries have been reported to date.
What Products Are Affected?
The recall covers the Sierra 125U Youth ATV, also sold under the brand name “Rider 9.” The model name “Sierra 125U” is located on the VIN plate on the front frame column, and a plate on the left front side of the frame states “This ATV is subject to LIL PICK UP INC’s Action Plan approved by the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission.”
The recalled ATVs were sold in red, blue, black, pink, gray, spider red, and spider blue. They were sold online and in-store at Cougar Cycle, Texas Star dba Flying Scooter, Vitacci Motorcycles, Dallas Power Sport, Tool Store Go-Kart Shop, and other retailers from October 2025 through April 2026 for between $800 and $1,300. The ATVs were manufactured in Vietnam and imported by Lil Pick Up Inc.
What Are the Hazards?
The recalled Sierra 125U Youth ATVs present multiple serious safety hazards. First, the ATVs fail to meet the mechanical suspension requirements of the federal mandatory ATV safety standard, posing a crash hazard. Second, the reverse indicator light fails to illuminate when the ATV is in reverse, which can cause riders to be unaware of the gear position and contribute to a collision.
Third, the parking brakes on the recalled ATVs fail to hold, posing a collision hazard when the vehicle is left stationary. Fourth, surfaces near the footwell can reach dangerously high temperatures during operation, posing a serious risk of severe burns to a young rider’s feet and legs.
Incidents and Injuries
No injuries have been reported in connection with the recalled Sierra 125U Youth ATVs to date. However, the multiple safety defects identified by the CPSC — including suspension failures, brake failures, and burn-risk surfaces — represent serious hazards to child riders.
What Caused the Recall?
The recall was triggered by the CPSC’s determination that the Sierra 125U Youth ATVs fail to comply with the federal mandatory ATV safety standard in several respects. The defects include inadequate mechanical suspension, a non-functioning reverse indicator light, parking brakes that fail to hold, and footwell surfaces that overheat during use.
