What’s the problem?
May 4, 2017 – The pressure cooker explosion occurred on the 18300 block of Northwest 44th Place in Miami Gardens, according to ABC News 10. The woman was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment.
“When I got there, she was bandaged,” a relative of the woman told Local 10 News photojournalist Bob Palumbo.
Neighbors said they heard the woman, a 37-year-old mother, screaming outside her home shortly after the explosion occurred. Maria King said she called for help and tried to ease the woman’s pain.
“The lady was screaming in the street,” King said. “We got water and I put ice (on her).”
The woman remained in the hospital on Wednesday in good condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
It was not immediately clear what brand of pressure cooker was involved in the incident. However, similar explosions have been reported with the Tristar Power Pressure Cooker XL, which has been suspected to have a defect that allows pressure to build up inside the device without a way of being vented. Although the manufacturer claims the cooker has a number of built-in safety features, consumers have reported that contents of the cooker “blew up” or “exploded.”
