What’s the Problem?
According to an FDA Recall Notice, this action applies to 21.1oz (600g) Xi Zhi Liang Fruit Jelly Cups, container code “BEST BEFORE 12.30.2020,” which were produced by Rong Shing Trading NY Inc., of Brooklyn, New York.
These items were recalled because “Small jelly cups containing konjac powder have previously been implicated in choking deaths of children,” FDA said. The choking hazard was identified by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, Food Safety and Inspection.
The recalled fruit jelly cups, which were distributed nationwide in retail food stores, are sold in pink, yellow, and blue plastic backpacks, with individual jelly cups inside each back pack and a toy car in a pouch on the front of the backpack. The UPC code for all of the recalled items is “6902934982138.”
Consumers who purchased any of the recalled fruit jelly cups should throw them away or return them for a full refund. This recall began on June 11, 2020.
