On May 28, 2026, Giantex Inc. of Ontario, California announced a voluntary recall of approximately 1,000 portable steam saunas in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) [1]. The recalled saunas were sold under both the Giantex and Costway brand names.

What Products Are Affected?

The recall covers Giantex and Costway branded 2-liter and 3-liter portable steam saunas sold as a complete set, including a folding chair, foot roller, felt mat, and remote control. The enclosures were sold in six colors — black, copper, beige, blue, green, and pink — with the brand name “Giantex” or “Costway” imprinted on the front. The following model numbers and SKUs are affected:

  • BA7635US-BK (SKU: GT7635US-BABK)
  • BA7635US-CF (SKU: GT7635US-BACF)
  • BA7635US-GR (SKU: GT7635US-GR-BA)
  • BA7635US-NY (SKU: GT7635US-BANY)
  • BA7733US-BK (SKU: GT7733US-BK-AB)
  • BA7733US-CF (SKU: GT7733US-CF-AB)
  • BA7733US-GR (SKU: GT7733US-GR-AB)
  • BA7733US-PI (SKU: GT7733US-PI-AB)
  • BA7579US-BK (SKU: GT7579US-BK-BA)
  • BA7579US-CF (SKU: GT7579US-CF-BA)
  • BA7579US-GR (SKU: GT7579US-GR-BA)

Model numbers and SKUs are printed on the product packaging. The recalled saunas were sold online at Amazon and Walmart from January 2023 through December 2025 for between $68 and $100, and were manufactured in China.

What Is the Hazard?

The sauna’s steam diffuser can be positioned too close to a consumer’s body inside the enclosure. When this occurs, concentrated hot steam can make direct contact with the user’s skin, posing a serious burn hazard to the hands, feet, and other extremities.

Incidents and Injuries

Giantex has received nine reports of consumers sustaining burns to their extremities while using the recalled saunas. One of those incidents resulted in a second-degree burn.

What Caused the Recall?

The recall was initiated after the company determined that the design of the steam diffuser allows it to be placed in a position inside the enclosure that directs hot steam directly onto the user’s skin. Because the user’s body is enclosed in close proximity to the steam source, there is insufficient distance to prevent burns when the diffuser is improperly positioned.

What Should Consumers Do?

Consumers who own the recalled Giantex or Costway portable steam sauna should stop using it immediately. To receive a full refund, consumers must destroy the sauna by unplugging it, cutting the cord to the steam unit, and submitting a photograph of the destroyed product to Giantex.

Consumers may submit their refund request and photograph by email at support@giantex.com or online at www.giantex.com/pages/product-recall-notice. Consumers with questions may also contact Giantex toll-free at 844-242-1885, available anytime, or visit www.giantex.com and click on “RECALL INFORMATION” at the top of the page.

Can I File a Lawsuit?

Consumers who purchased the recalled Giantex or Costway portable steam sauna — particularly those who suffered burn injuries when hot steam contacted their skin — may have significant legal options. A class action lawsuit could allow affected consumers to seek compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, and other related losses.
