Shenzhenshilonghuaqujialebeibaihuoshanghang (Jialebei Department Store, Longhua District, Shenzhen) doing business as Samit Outdoor recalled approximately 3,295 youth multi-purpose helmets on February 19, 2026. [1] The recall (CPSC 26-277) involves helmets that violate the mandatory federal safety standard for bicycle helmets and can fail to protect children in a crash.

Product Details

The recalled SAMIT multi-purpose helmets were designed for children and sold in one size fitting head circumferences of approximately 21 to 23 inches. The helmets were sold in four color variations: “crack” blue, “crack” red, “crack” black (all featuring a cracked paint design), and pure black.

The helmets feature gray padding, black straps, a black and red buckle with a black chin strap, and a black plastic knob at the back for adjusting the fit. The products were manufactured in China and sold exclusively on Amazon.com from March 2025 through November 2025 for between $28 and $33.

Mandatory Standard Violations

The recalled helmets violate the mandatory federal safety standard for bicycle helmets due to noncompliance with positional stability and certification requirements. These failures mean the helmets cannot adequately protect a child’s head during impact.

The helmets do not meet the rigorous testing and performance standards established by the Consumer Product Safety Commission to prevent serious head injuries. Without proper positional stability, the helmet can shift or come off during a crash, leaving the child’s head exposed to severe trauma.

Hazard and Injuries

The defective helmets can fail to protect users in the event of a bicycle crash, skateboarding accident, or other impact. This failure poses a serious risk of traumatic brain injury, skull fractures, permanent disability, or death.

Children relying on these helmets for safety during cycling, skating, or other activities face potentially catastrophic consequences if involved in an accident. No incidents or injuries have been reported to date.

Recall Instructions

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled helmets and contact Samit Outdoor for a full refund. To obtain a refund, consumers must destroy the recalled helmet by cutting the straps off.

Consumers should upload photos of the helmet with the straps cut off to usjialebei@foxmail.com. For more information, contact Samit Outdoors by email at usjialebei@foxmail.com.

Amazon’s Role and Responsibility

The recalled helmets were sold exclusively through Amazon.com, raising questions about the e-commerce giant’s responsibility for vetting third-party sellers and ensuring product safety compliance. Parents who purchased these helmets trusted Amazon’s marketplace to provide safe products for their children.

Amazon may face potential liability for allowing defective, non-compliant helmets to be sold through its platform without adequate safety verification. The recall highlights ongoing concerns about the sale of dangerous products through online marketplaces that fail to meet U.S. safety standards.

Legal Claims

Families whose children suffered head injuries while wearing these defective helmets may be entitled to significant compensation. Legal claims may include product liability for design and manufacturing defects, failure to comply with mandatory safety standards, failure to warn, negligence, and breach of warranty.

Injured parties can pursue damages for medical expenses, ongoing rehabilitation costs, pain and suffering, permanent disability, lost quality of life, and in tragic cases, wrongful death. Parents who purchased these helmets may also be entitled to refunds and compensation for the emotional distress of unknowingly exposing their children to serious danger.

Contact an Attorney

If your child was injured while wearing a SAMIT helmet purchased from Amazon, or if you purchased one of these recalled helmets, you may be entitled to compensation. Contact an experienced product liability attorney immediately to discuss your legal rights and options.

Time limits apply to filing product liability claims, so it is important to act quickly. An attorney can help you navigate the recall process, pursue compensation from the manufacturer and potentially Amazon, and hold all responsible parties accountable for selling dangerous products to children.
