What’s the Problem?

April 27, 2018 – A total of 11 refinery victims were treated in Duluth and Superior medical facilities, one with a “serious blast injury,” according to officials at Essentia Health and St. Luke’s hospital.

Husky Energy was purchased last year by Calumet Specialty Products Partners for nearly $500,000 million, according to WGN 9. It’s Wisconsin’s only refinery, which produces gasoline, asphalt and other products.

The plant has been fined in the past for OSHA violations, when the facility was still Calumet’s. In 2015, OSHA fined Calumet $21,000 over emergency response and flammable liquids violations, according to U.S. Department of Labor spokesman Scott Allen.
