Update: Little Hatches Cream Cheese Recalled for Listeria Contamination

The FDA on May 28, 2021, announced that Interstate Food Products is recalling the following foods which may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes:

  • Little Hatches Jalapeno Cream Cheese stores, UPC code 63818396147
  • Little Hatches Queso dip, UPC code 638183961496
  • Little Hatches Spicy Queso dip, UPC code 7051005091000

The recalled items were distributed in Whole Foods Rocky Mountain Region, and the Denver metro area for Natural Grocers. Affected products come in a 13.5 -ounce, clear plastic package.

What’s the Problem?

This FDA Recall began on May 20, 2021, and affects 14 ounce containers of Little Hatches Jalapeno Cream Cheese, UPC code 63818396147.

The recalled jalapeno cream cheese was distributed in 6 Whole Foods stores in the Denver Colorado Metro area, and sold in a clear plastic package marked with sell by date of 05/21 on top of container.

Interstate Food Products initiated this recall after routine testing by the FDA revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in 14 ounce packages of Little Hatches Jalapeno Cream Cheese.

“Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women,” FDA said.

Consumers who purchased any recalled Whole Foods jalapeno cream cheese should either discard it or return it for a refund.
