On June 4, 2026, Vornado Air, LLC of Andover, Kansas announced a voluntary recall of its SRTH Small Room Tower Heaters in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) [1]. Approximately 255,000 units are affected in the United States, along with approximately eight units sold in Canada. The recalled heaters were manufactured in China and imported by Vornado Air, LLC.

What Products Are Affected?

The recall covers the Vornado SRTH Small Room Tower Heater, sold in black and white. The heaters measure approximately 12.5 inches high by 6 inches in diameter, feature two heat settings (low and high) and a fan-only setting, and have “Vornado” with a “V” logo printed on the front of the unit.

To confirm whether a heater is included in the recall, consumers should check the silver rating label on the bottom of the product for the designation “TYPE SRTH.” The recalled heaters were sold at Kohl’s, Bed Bath & Beyond, and ACE Hardware stores nationwide, and online at Vornado.com and Amazon.com from August 2013 through May 2026 for between $40 and $50.

What Is the Hazard?

The fan blade inside the recalled heater can detach from the motor shaft during use. When this happens, the fan slows or stops entirely, causing heat to build up inside the unit and melt the enclosure and internal components. If the heater’s thermal cut-off or fuse does not activate in time, the melted internal parts can ignite and breach the enclosure, posing a serious fire hazard to consumers and their homes.

Incidents and Injuries

Vornado has received 32 reports of overheating caused by fan blade displacement in the recalled heaters. Those incidents include eight reports of fire and one report of a consumer suffering smoke inhalation.

What Caused the Recall?

The recall was initiated after Vornado identified that the fan blade can separate from the motor shaft, eliminating the airflow needed to keep the heater’s internal components within safe operating temperatures. The defect affects all units bearing the “TYPE SRTH” designation, spanning a remarkably long sales window of nearly 13 years — from August 2013 through May 2026.

What Should Consumers Do?

Consumers who own the recalled Vornado SRTH Small Room Tower Heater should stop using it immediately and unplug it from the wall. To receive a full refund, consumers should contact Vornado for instructions on how to submit photographs of the product and proof of destruction.

Can I File a Lawsuit?

Consumers who purchased the recalled Vornado SRTH Small Room Tower Heater — particularly those who experienced a fire, property damage, or smoke inhalation as a result of the overheating defect — may have significant legal options. A class action lawsuit could allow affected consumers to seek compensation for property damage, medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, and other related losses.
