What's the Problem?
This NHTSA Recall began on Oct. 14, 2020, and affects Volkswagen Passat vehicles from model year 2020.
NHTSA said the passenger frontal airbags on the recalled Passat vehicles may have been folded incorrectly affecting its deployment force, causing the airbag to deploy with too much force, increasing the risk of injury.
This problem causes the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
If you purchased a Passat that is affected by this recall, you should contact Volkswagen to schedule a free airbag replacement.
Volkswagen's number for this recall is 69AY.
