What’s the Problem?
Josephine County Public Health said that multiple cases of salmonella poisoning were “potentially linked” to the Si Casa Flores restaurant on 202 N.E. Beacon Drive in Grants Pass, Oregon, according to KDRV.
Health officials inspected the restaurant and collected 17 specimens for laboratory testing.
“Si Casa Flores Corporation has been working closely with Public Health specialists to identify the source of the outbreak and ensure the continued safety of Si Casa customers,” Josephine County Public Health said in a statement.
Due to shared ingredients between local restaurants, people who ate at any of the following Si Casa Flores restaurants between June 25, 2020, and July 7, 2020, may have been exposed to salmonella:
- Si Casa Flores (202 N.E. Beacon Drive, Grants Pass, Oregon)
- Si Casa Express (401 N.W. F St., Grants Pass, Oregon)
- Xpress Trailer (502 Union Ave., Grants Pass, Oregon)
Salmonella is a strain of bacteria that can cause infection, resulting in diarrhea, fever and stomach cramps, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Symptoms typically begin 6 hours to 6 days after infection and last 4 to 7 days. However, some people do not develop symptoms for several weeks after infection and others experience symptoms for several weeks.
“Salmonella strains sometimes cause infection in urine, blood, bones, joints or the nervous system and can cause severe disease,” CDC said. “Most people recover from Salmonella infection within four to seven days without antibiotics. People who are sick with a Salmonella infection should drink extra fluids as long as diarrhea lasts.”
Josephine County Public Health said that the likelihood of containing the salmonella outbreak linked to Si Casa Flores is “moderate to high.”
