On June 11, 2026, the CPSC issued a product safety warning urging consumers to immediately stop using Sekaer Electric Kettles due to the risk of serious injury or death from burn hazard [1]. The Chinese seller, Sekaer Store, has not responded to the CPSC’s requests for a recall. Federal law prohibits any person from selling products subject to a CPSC safety warning of this nature.

What Products Are Affected?

The warning covers all Sekaer portable electric kettles, which are travel-size, stainless-steel water boilers available in 330, 380, 400, or 500 mL capacities. The kettles come in black, white, green, white with gold, black with gold, or gray with silver, with the Sekaer logo printed on the front.

The model number — SY-618, SKE-833, SKE-840, or SKE-850 — appears on the product packaging. The defective kettles were sold online at Amazon.com, Walmart.com, eBay.com, and Sears.com, and were manufactured in China.

What Is the Hazard?

The recalled Sekaer kettles can pressurize internally and then release hot steam or liquid unexpectedly during use. Because the kettle is typically held or handled close to the body while boiling water, an unexpected release of pressurized steam or liquid can expose the user’s hands, arms, and face to severe burns with virtually no time to react.

Incidents and Injuries

The CPSC is aware of 116 reports of Sekaer kettles releasing hot liquid or steam unexpectedly. These incidents have resulted in 89 reported injuries, including serious second- and third-degree burns.

What Should Consumers Do?

The CPSC urges consumers to stop using Sekaer Electric Kettles immediately and dispose of them. Consumers should not sell or give away these hazardous kettles under any circumstances.

Anyone who experienced a safety incident with this product should report it to the CPSC at www.SaferProducts.gov. Consumers may also contact the CPSC hotline at 800-638-2772 (TTY 800-638-8270), available Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET.

Can I File a Lawsuit?

Consumers who suffered burn injuries from a Sekaer Electric Kettle that released hot steam or liquid unexpectedly — particularly those who suffered second- or third-degree burns — may have significant legal options. A class action lawsuit could allow injured consumers to seek compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, scarring or disfigurement, lost wages, and other related losses. Contact an attorney as soon as possible to learn more about your rights.
