On October 9, 2025, Guangzhou Jiguang Lighting Co. Ltd. of Guangzhou, China announced a voluntary recall of its Living Glow portable waist fans in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) [1]. Approximately 48,000 units are affected. The fans were manufactured in China by Guangzhou Jiguang Lighting Co. Ltd.
What Product Is Affected?
The recall covers the Living Glow five-in-one portable waist fan, model number CP-WFLED01, which can be found on the label on the back of the fan. The recalled fan features five fan speeds, a three-mode flashlight, and can also function as a power bank.
The fan measures approximately 3.6 inches wide by 4 inches tall, includes a metal clip for attaching to a belt and a strap for wearing around the neck, and was sold in gray, white, aqua, coral, red, and sage green. The recalled fans were sold on HSN.com and through the HSN television network from May 2025 through July 2025 for between $20 and $25.
What Is the Hazard?
The lithium-ion battery inside the recalled Living Glow waist fan can overheat while charging, posing a serious fire hazard. Because the product is compact and marketed for everyday wear and on-the-go use, consumers may charge it overnight or in close proximity to bedding, furniture, or other combustible materials — increasing the risk that a battery fire goes undetected.
Incidents and Injuries
Guangzhou Jiguang Lighting has received four reports of the portable waist fan’s battery melting or catching fire during charging. No injuries or property damage have been reported in connection with these incidents to date.
What Should Consumers Do?
Consumers who own the recalled Living Glow portable waist fan should stop using and charging it immediately. To receive a full refund, consumers should register at www.waistfanrecall.info and follow the company’s instructions to disable the fan before disposal.
The fan’s lithium-ion battery must not be placed in regular trash, curbside recycling bins, or standard used-battery drop-off boxes at retail stores. Consumers should contact their municipal household hazardous waste (HHW) collection center before disposal to confirm the facility accepts recalled lithium-ion batteries.
