What’s the Problem?
The sale of lawn darts was banned in the U.S. in 1988 after they were linked to the deaths of several children. While the tip may not be sharp enough to be obviously dangerous, these darts can cause skull punctures and other serious injuries, according to the CPSC.
About 19,400 dangerous lawn darts were manufactured by Crown Darts UK, of the United Kingdom, and sold online in the U.S. from May 2004 through June 2020 for between $15 and $139.
The recalled lawn dart sets contained either 4, 8 or 10 darts each, as well as individual spare darts. The darts were sold in red, blue, yellow, purple, pink, orange, ivory and green. The “CROWN DARTS” logo is printed on the product.
Consumers who purchased any lawn darts should stop using them immediately and throw them away.
The CPSC Recall Number for this item is 20-163.
