Recall Details and Affected Products
- Joyful Journeys baby loungers – foam sleeping pads with padded bumpers and cloth covers that zip up into bags with straps; sold in eight styles: green avocado, blue dinosaur, blue lambs, blue zoo animals, green minky, neutral elephants, pink zoo animals, and white minky; “Joyful Journeys” appears on a tag stitched on the outside of the lounger cover and on a label stitched directly onto the back of the lounger.
Sold online at Amazon.com and Walmart.com from December 2023 through October 2025 for between $40 and $60. The recalled baby loungers violate the mandatory safety standard for Infant Sleep Products. The sides are too low to contain an infant and the enclosed openings at the foot of the loungers are wider than allowed, posing serious risks of fall and entrapment hazards to infants. In addition, the baby loungers do not have a stand, posing a fall hazard if used on elevated surfaces. These violations create an unsafe sleeping environment and can cause death or serious injury to infants.
Sarnia Sales LLC, doing business as Joyful Journeys of Issaquah, Washington, recalled approximately 9,300 baby loungers on January 8, 2026 (CPSC Recall No. 26-181) [1]. The products were manufactured in China.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled baby loungers and contact Joyful Journeys for a full refund. Consumers should remove the foam and pads from the baby lounger’s cover and cut the cover, foam, and pad in half. Consumers should email photos of the destroyed pieces to joyfuljourneysrecalls@myjoyfuljourneys.com to obtain a full refund. Do NOT resell or donate them—it is a violation of federal law to sell or distribute recalled products.

Mandatory Federal Safety Standards for Infant Sleep Products
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) enforces mandatory safety standards for infant sleep products to protect babies from serious injury and death. These standards are designed to create safe sleeping environments and prevent hazards such as entrapment, suffocation, and falls.
The Joyful Journeys baby loungers violated multiple requirements of the mandatory standard for infant sleep products:
Side Height Requirements: The sides of the loungers were too low to contain an infant. Proper infant sleep products must have sides of sufficient height to prevent babies from rolling or climbing out, which could result in falls and serious injuries.
Opening Size Restrictions: The enclosed openings at the foot of the loungers exceeded the maximum width allowed by federal regulations. Openings that are too wide pose serious entrapment hazards, as an infant’s body or limbs can become trapped, potentially leading to suffocation or injury.
Stability Requirements: The baby loungers did not have a stand, which is required to prevent the product from tipping or falling when placed on elevated surfaces. Without proper stability features, these products pose significant fall hazards.
Federal Law Prohibits Sale of Recalled Products
Federal law prohibits any person from selling products subject to a Commission ordered recall or a voluntary recall undertaken in consultation with the CPSC. Retailers, resellers, and individuals are prohibited from selling, offering for sale, or distributing Joyful Journeys baby loungers that are subject to this recall.
This prohibition applies to all sales channels, including:
- Online marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Facebook Marketplace, and Craigslist
- Garage sales and yard sales
- Consignment shops and secondhand stores
- Donations to charities or individuals
- Private sales between individuals
No Injuries Reported To Date
As of the recall announcement on January 8, 2026, no incidents or injuries have been reported in connection with the Joyful Journeys baby loungers. However, the recall was issued because the products violate mandatory federal safety standards and pose serious risks of death or injury from entrapment and fall hazards.
The absence of reported injuries does not diminish the severity of the safety violations. Federal safety standards exist to prevent injuries before they occur, and products that fail to meet these standards create unacceptable risks to infants.

Importance of Infant Sleep Safety
Infant sleep safety is a critical public health concern. According to the CPSC and pediatric health organizations, approximately 3,500 sleep-related infant deaths occur in the United States each year, including those from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), accidental suffocation, and entrapment.
Safe sleep products must meet stringent federal standards to minimize these risks. Products that violate safety standards, like the recalled Joyful Journeys baby loungers, can create hazardous sleep environments that put infants at unnecessary risk.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that infants sleep on firm, flat surfaces with no soft bedding, bumpers, or other objects that could pose suffocation or entrapment hazards. Products used for infant sleep must comply with current federal safety standards to provide appropriate protection.
