What’s the Problem?
Lawsuits have recently been cropping up all across the U.S., filed by people who claim that pressure cookers similar to the InstaPot exploded during use, resulting in severe burn and scald injuries.
Many of the explosions happened when a user followed the manufacturer’s instructions and the unit still exploded.
Pressure Cooker Injuries
The U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) has received dozens of reports of the following types of injuries linked to pressure cooker explosions:
- Severe burns to the arms, legs, face and other parts of the body
- Scars and disfigurement
- Damages to kitchen walls, cabinets, and floors
Power Pressure Cooker XL
The Tristar Power Pressure Cooker XL is a digital pressure cooker that claims to be a “one button, one pot kitchen miracle” that prepares slow-cooked meals 70% faster than conventional methods. However, the device has been reported to explode without warning while cooking food as consumers open the lid. As a result, lawsuits allege that pressure builds inside the pressure cooker and its contents explode onto nearby people, appliances, walls, and floors. Our lawyers also represent a number of people injured by a tristar pressure cooker explosion.
What Are The Other Brands are Being Investigated?
In addition to filing lawsuits against the makers of Instant Pot and the Tristar Power Pressure Cooker XL, our lawyers are currently accepting claims against Maxi-Matic, Cuisinart, Bella, Nuwave, Phillipe Richards, Crock-Pot, and others.
If you were burned or suffered another type of injury after your pressure cooker exploded on you, you are not alone.
Please remember, even if your pressure cooker is not on this list, you may still have a claim and be entitled to financial compensation by filing a lawsuit. Contact us today to learn more about your legal rights.
About Class Action Lawsuits
Although we are a nationally recognized class action firm, the Products Liability Litigation Group at our law firm has decided against the filing of an InstaPot class action suit and is currently filing individual claims on behalf of individuals and/or their family members who were severely burned or scalded by exploding pressure cookers.
A class action is a type of lawsuit filed with the court on behalf of a large group of people or “class” of individuals that have been injured or wronged. The class is represented by the law firm and the case is generally decided upon a single member of the class who is sometimes referred to as the “class representative or class rep.”
Why Our Law Firm Is Filing Individual Lawsuits Opposed To a Class Action
In some instances, a class action may offer some advantages, as they aggregate a large number of individualized claims into one representational lawsuit. The aggregation can increase the efficiency of the legal process, lower the costs of litigation and in some cases offer the solution to a common problem wherein small recoveries do not provide the incentive for any individual or law firm to file an individual lawsuit.
However, a class action suit can also be a detriment to many class members, as they are often forced into a blanket “low ball settlement” and higher attorney fees. At Schmidt & Clark, LLP we understand that our clients are suffering emotionally and economically due to loss of wages and/or high medical bills and we plan to maximize each client’s recovery by filing individual InstaPot Pressure Cooker Lawsuits on their behalf.
