What’s the Problem?
This NHTSA Recall began on Jan. 22, 2021, and affects the following vehicles:
- 2019-2020 Hyundai Nexo Fuel Cell
- 2019-2021 Hyundai Kona Electric
These vehicles were manufactured with an Integrated Electronic Brake (IEB) system that may detect an abnormal sensor signal, significantly reducing braking ability. “Reduced braking power could lengthen the distance required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash,” NHTSA said.
If you purchased a Nexo electrical vehicle that is affected by this recall, you should stop driving it immediately and contact your Hyundai dealer to schedule a free IEB software update.
Hyundai’s number for this recall is 199.
