What’s the Problem?

This FDA Recall was announced on Dec. 23, 2020, and affects “Veladis herring in oil with Italian spices” produced by B&I Overseas Trading, Inc.

The product was sold at select international retail stores in the State of Washington and comes in a 17.64 ounce (500 gram) plastic package with an expiration date of 08/08/2021 and UPC No. 4823097903896.

About 400 units were sold in November and December 2020. All affected product has been removed from sale.

Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems, FDA said. Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

Consumers who purchased any recalled herring fish should either throw it away or return it for a refund.

If you got sick after eating any of the products mentioned in this article, you should contact a doctor immediately.
