On June 18, 2026, GOPO Toys LLC of San Bernardino, California announced a voluntary recall of its Pull String Teething Toys in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) [1]. The recall was issued because the toy’s silicone strings violate the federal mandatory toy safety standard. The toys were manufactured in China and distributed by GOPO Toys LLC.
About the Recalled Product
The recalled GOPO TOYS Pull String Teething Toy is an off-white disc with a gray ball in the center and six multi-colored silicone tentacle-style pull strings running through the ball. The disc also features seven soft push buttons, with “GOPO TOYS” and “Pull String Toy” printed on the front of the packaging.
Six batch numbers are included in the recall: 250905, 250530, 250120, 240315, 231005, and 230610, each printed on the back of the packaging. The recalled toys were sold exclusively on Amazon.com from August 2023 through March 2026 for between $11 and $15.
The Safety Violation
Federal toy safety standards set specific requirements for the diameter and length of silicone strings on infant products — limits that exist precisely because strings that are too thin or too long can reach the back of a young child’s throat during normal play or teething. The GOPO pull-string toy’s silicone strings were found to be both smaller in diameter and longer than these mandatory limits permit.
Because teething toys are specifically designed to be placed in an infant’s mouth, a string that can reach the back of the throat isn’t an edge case — it’s a foreseeable outcome of the toy’s intended use. When lodged at the back of a child’s throat, the string can obstruct the airway and trigger respiratory distress or choking.
Reported Incidents and Injuries
GOPO Toys is aware of three reports of the toy’s silicone strings reaching the back of a child’s throat. All three incidents resulted in respiratory distress or choking.
What Parents Should Do Right Now
