About Double T Concept Fireplaces

Double T Concept LLC is a direct-to-consumer brand that sells bioethanol tabletop fireplaces through its website at doubletconcept.com, with global shipping via DHL Express, FedEx, and DPD. Its flagship products include the Juno Tabletop Fire Pit — available in five colors including black, light gray, natural, walnut, and anthracite — and the Tornado Tabletop Fireplace, which is designed to produce a visually striking tornado-style flame effect after several minutes of burning.

Both products burn bioethanol fuel, advertise up to 150 minutes of burn time, and are marketed for indoor and outdoor use in homes, balconies, gardens, and offices. Both are sold with extinguishing spatulas and heat-resistant glass enclosures — safety accessories that suggest careful design but do not address the underlying hazard.

What European Certification Doesn’t Cover

Double T Concept’s claim that its products meet European safety standards is not unique — many tabletop fire pit brands make similar certifications claims. But the CPSC’s December 2024 consumer alert, which declared alcohol-burning fire pits “extremely dangerous” and linked them to at least two deaths and more than 60 injuries, was not issued because these products failed to meet a manufacturing standard [1]. It was issued because their design — pouring liquid alcohol into an open container and igniting it in the same spot — is the hazard, regardless of how well the product is made.

A fire pit with European-certified glass panels and stainless steel components that meets every manufacturing benchmark still burns bioethanol at temperatures exceeding 1,600°F. It still produces a flame that is nearly colorless and nearly invisible. And it still creates the conditions for flame jetting — the explosive event that has killed consumers and sent dozens of others to emergency rooms — when a user pours fuel near a residual flame they cannot see.

The Tornado Effect and the Refueling Window

Double T Concept’s Tornado model is specifically designed to produce a growing, visually dramatic flame over time — the “tornado” effect develops gradually as the product burns. That design characteristic creates a particularly dangerous refueling window: a consumer who believes the flame has died down at the end of a session may not realize that residual heat and invisible flame remain in the burner.

Pouring fresh bioethanol into that residual heat is precisely the scenario that causes flame jetting — a sudden, explosive ejection of burning fuel that can travel 15 feet or more and cause severe burns in under a second [1].

Deaths, Injuries, and Lawsuits

In June 2024, two people died after flame jetting occurred when a FLIKRFIRE tabletop fireplace was refueled while a residual flame remained [2]. In April 2026, the CPSC warned consumers to stop using Rozato Tabletop Fire Pits after one death and multiple serious burn injuries were reported — and the manufacturer refused to recall the product [3]. Lawsuits are now being pursued against manufacturers, importers, and online sellers across the country.

Can I File a Lawsuit?

Consumers who were burned while using a Double T Concept Juno or Tornado tabletop fireplace may have significant legal options — regardless of any safety certifications the product carries. A class action lawsuit could allow affected consumers to seek compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, permanent scarring or disfigurement, lost wages, and other related losses.
