The seals on these cans may be compromised, which could increase the risk of contamination with Clostridium botulinum bacteria.

“Clostridium botulinum poisoning in humans can begin from six hours to two weeks after eating food that contains the toxin,” FDA said. “Symptoms may include double vision, blurred vision, drooping eyelids, slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, and muscle weakness.”

This recall was initiated after Faribault Foods, Inc. received consumer and customer complaints regarding failure of the hermetic seal.

Consumers who purchased any recalled beans should either throw them away or return them for a refund.

If you are concerned about botulism poisoning from recalled black beans, you should dial 9-1-1 immediately.
