What’s the Problem?
This recall began on September 22, 2020, affecting Billy+Margot Wild Kangaroo and Superfoods Recipe in a 4 lb bag, with lot code V 07 Feb 2022.
Real Pet Food Company of Phoenix, Arizona ordered the recall after state officials identified the presence of salmonella in the dog food. The Company has ceased the production and distribution of the affected product pending the results of an investigation into the source of contamination.
“Salmonella can affect animals eating the products and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products,” FDA said. “Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Owners exhibiting any signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare provider.”
Consumers who purchased any recalled dog food should stop feeding it to their pets and either throw it away or return it to the point of purchase for a refund.
