Gerber Products Company of Arlington, Virginia initiated a voluntary recall of limited batches of Gerber Arrowroot Biscuits on January 26, 2026 (FDA Published January 28, 2026) [1]. This nationwide recall follows a supplier recall of contaminated arrowroot flour. Gerber is no longer working with the flour supplier.

Contamination Source

The potential presence of soft plastic and/or paper pieces in Gerber Arrowroot Biscuits stems from contaminated arrowroot flour supplied by a third-party vendor who subsequently initiated their own recall. These foreign materials should not be consumed and pose serious risks to infants and young children.

The recall is isolated to Gerber Arrowroot Biscuits 5.5oz products produced between July 2025 and September 2025 with the following batch codes and “Best Before” dates:

No Reported Injuries

While no illnesses or injuries have been reported to date, Gerber initiated this recall out of an abundance of caution following the supplier’s recall. The company is working closely with the FDA and cooperating fully throughout the review process. The absence of reported injuries does not eliminate product liability for contaminated baby food.

Legal Claims for Affected Families

Parents and caregivers who purchased recalled Gerber Arrowroot Biscuits may have valid legal claims including:

  • Failure to maintain adequate supplier quality control and oversight
  • Distribution of contaminated infant food products with foreign materials
  • Breach of express and implied warranties for baby food safety
  • Negligent selection and monitoring of ingredient suppliers
  • Economic losses from purchasing defective, unusable baby food
  • Emotional distress from exposing infants to contamination risks

Potential compensation may include full product purchase price, costs for replacement baby food, medical expenses for any contamination-related injuries, emotional distress damages for parents who fed contaminated products to their children, and punitive damages for supplier oversight failures. The contamination from a recalled supplier demonstrates systemic quality control breakdowns in infant food production.

Supplier Accountability

Gerber has discontinued its relationship with the arrowroot flour supplier responsible for the contamination. This decision acknowledges the severity of the supplier’s quality failures and the resulting threat to infant safety.
