What’s the problem?

October 11, 2017 – Lead Plaintiff Maria Vergara initially filed suit against Uber in Illinois back in August 2015, alleging that she had received unwanted text messages from the company urging her to complete the process of signing up for the Uber app, despite never having expressed interest in being an Uber rider or driver.

A slew of plaintiffs soon followed suit, all claiming they have received unwanted texts about becoming Uber drivers. They initially filed their class action in California federal court in December 2014.

The plaintiffs claim they asked Uber to stop sending the texts, but they continued to receive them, and that the company failed to implement procedures confirming the accuracy of prospective users’ information.

Furthermore, the complaint alleges that Uber uses inaccurate phone numbers which cause it to routinely send unsolicited text messages to individuals who never provided consent.

If you received one or more unsolicited text messages from Uber between Dec. 31, 2010, and Aug. 17, 2017, may be eligible for compensation from the settlement agreement.
