Recall Details and Affected Products

Diva Fam Inc. of Los Angeles announced a voluntary recall on January 9, 2026, affecting all lots and flavors of True Sea Moss brand Sea Moss Gel Superfood. The recall was initiated due to lack of required regulatory authorization and temperature monitoring records for pH-controlled food products.

The affected products include all 16 FL OZ glass jars manufactured prior to January 9, 2026. The manufacture date appears on the can lid in MM/YYYY format [1].

Products were distributed nationwide through select retail locations, the company website at trueseamoss.com, and other distribution channels. No illnesses or adverse health events have been reported in connection with these products to date.

Regulatory Compliance Issues

The recall was initiated following a California Department of Public Health inspection that identified concerns regarding regulatory authorization and production records. pH-controlled food products that fail to meet applicable regulatory requirements may pose microbial growth risks.

Products manufactured without proper temperature monitoring and regulatory compliance can potentially harbor organisms that produce toxins associated with botulism. Diva Fam is cooperating fully with regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with all food safety regulations.

Botulism Health Risks

Botulism is a rare but serious illness caused by toxins that affect the nervous system. The condition can lead to severe neurological complications if left untreated.

Early symptoms of botulism include general weakness, dizziness, double vision, and difficulty speaking or swallowing. In severe cases, the illness can progress to difficulty breathing and muscle weakness throughout the body.

Botulism requires immediate medical attention and can be life-threatening without prompt treatment. Anyone experiencing these symptoms after consuming recalled products should seek emergency medical care.

What Are pH-Controlled Foods?

pH-controlled foods are products that rely on specific acidity levels to prevent harmful bacterial growth. These foods require strict temperature monitoring and manufacturing controls to remain safe for consumption.

When pH-controlled foods are not properly manufactured or stored, they can create conditions favorable for dangerous bacterial growth. The lack of proper regulatory authorization and temperature records means the safety of these products cannot be verified.

Legal Options for Victims

Consumers who developed botulism or other illnesses after consuming True Sea Moss Gel Superfood products may have grounds for legal action. Product liability claims can help victims recover compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages resulting from contaminated food products.

Class action lawsuits may be filed when multiple consumers suffer harm from the same defective product. Individual claims may also be pursued depending on the severity of illness and specific circumstances of each case.

Potential Damages in Botulism Cases

Victims of botulism contamination may be entitled to various forms of compensation. Economic damages can include hospital bills, emergency room visits, prescription medications, rehabilitation costs, follow-up medical care, and income lost during illness and recovery.

Non-economic damages may cover physical pain, emotional distress, reduced quality of life, and long-term health complications. Severe botulism cases often require extended hospitalization and intensive medical intervention, which can result in substantial compensation amounts.
