What’s the Problem?
According to the NHTSA Recall Notice, this action affects Tornel A/T-09 tires, size LT265/75R16, Load Range C with DOT date codes 2119 through 2619.
These tires were improperly manufactured so that the sidewall rubber may separate from the body ply cords and cause separation of the lower sidewall. This defects makes the tires fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 139, “New Pneumatic Radial Tires for Light Vehicles.”
Sidewall tread separation can cause tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash, NHTSA said.
If you purchased any Tornel Tires that are affected by this recall, you should return them to the point of purchase for free replacement tires. This recall started on 3/24/20.
