What’s the Problem?
This NHTSA Recall began on Jan. 17, 2021, and affects the following Thor motorhomes:
- 2020-2021 Thor Daybreak
- 2020-2021 Thor Four Winds
- 2020-2021 Thor Chateau
- 2020-2021 Thor Freedom Elite
- 2020-2021 Thor Quantum
These motorhomes were built on a Chevrolet chassis, and are equipped with a BIM (Battery Isolation Manager)/BIR (Battery Isolation Relay) that is not watertight when exposed to engine compartment heat. This may cause water to enter the BIM/BIR and create electrical arcing, increasing the risk of a fire, NHTSA said.
If you purchased a motorhome that is affected by this recall, you should stop using it immediately and contact your Thor Motor Coach dealer for a free replacement Trombetta solenoid.
Thor’s number for this recall is RC000206.
