J&J Distributing issued this recall after routine testing revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in a utensil used to produce the foods, which were distributed to retail stores across the U.S.

“Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems,” FDA said. “Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.”

Consumers who purchased any recalled foods should either throw them away or return them for a full refund.
