Shanghai Kase International Trade Co., Ltd., doing business as Shintenchi, of China recalled approximately 600 six-drawer dressers on February 5, 2026 (CPSC Recall No. 26-238) [1]. Sold exclusively on Amazon.com from July 2025 through August 2025 for approximately $130. Manufactured by Huizhou Sunhouse Home Furnishings Co., Ltd., of China.

Affected Dresser Specifications

The recalled white Shintenchi dressers feature six wooden drawers and distinctive golden metal feet. Precise measurements: 15.7 inches deep, 47.2 inches wide, and 30.5 inches high. Identifying mark “SHX12077-WH” appears embossed on the dresser’s underside at the top of one metal foot and printed on product packaging.

Regulatory Noncompliance

These dressers actively violate federal law established under the STURDY Act governing clothing storage furniture stability. The units demonstrate dangerous instability when not wall-mounted, transforming routine household furniture into potential death traps for toddlers and young children who naturally interact with drawers through climbing and pulling behaviors.

Child Safety Threats

  • Lethal tip-over events during drawer manipulation by children
  • Entrapment injuries when furniture collapses onto victims
  • Catastrophic skull fractures and intracranial hemorrhaging
  • Rib cage fractures and pulmonary contusions
  • Positional asphyxia from body positioning under collapsed furniture

Consumer Action Requirements

  1. Cease all use of Shintenchi model SHX12077-WH dressers without secure wall anchoring.
  2. Remove furniture from all child-accessible spaces within the home.
  3. Email ShintenchiRecall@hotmail.com to initiate the refund process.
  4. Request specific disposal instructions from the manufacturer.
  5. Execute disposal according to company directives.
  6. Document disposal with photographs as required.
  7. Submit disposal evidence to ShintenchiRecall@hotmail.com.
  8. Obtain full purchase price reimbursement.
  9. Remember: federal statutes prohibit any resale or transfer of recalled merchandise.

Basis for Consumer Claims

Purchasers of these non-compliant dressers may assert multiple legal theories:

  • Direct violation of congressionally mandated STURDY Act stability requirements
  • Negligent product design creating foreseeable child endangerment
  • Fraudulent misrepresentation through sale of non-code-compliant furniture
  • Breach of express and implied merchantability warranties
  • Unjust enrichment from defective merchandise sales

Claimants may recover initial purchase expenditures, time value costs associated with recall participation, replacement furniture expenses, and statutory penalties where consumer protection violations apply. Zero reported injuries do not preclude recovery when products violate mandatory safety standards.

Criminal Prohibition on Resale

Federal consumer safety statutes impose criminal liability for knowing distribution of recalled products. The disposal verification system prevents hazardous furniture from reaching unsuspecting secondary purchasers through garage sales, online marketplaces, or charitable donations.
