What’s the Problem?
This FDA Recall was issued on September 1, 2020, and affects “Red-E” male enhancement pills sold by The Protein Shoppe, LLC.
The Protein Shoppe issued the recall after an FDA analysis identified the presence of undeclared sildenafil in the “Red-E” male enhancement pills.
Sildenafil is an FDA approved drug used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). The presence of sildenafil in “Red-E” makes it an unapproved drug for which safety and efficacy have not been established, FDA said.
The recalled product is a scored octagonal tablet with the word “Red” embossed on either side of the score line, contained in a small plastic bag with a black label stapled to it. The Red-E pills were sold online, FDA said.
Sildenafil is dangerous to consumers with underlying medical conditions because it may interact with nitrates found in prescription medications, lowering blood pressure to dangerous levels which could result in adverse health consequences.
Consumers who purchased any recalled Red-E Male enhancement pills should either discard them or return them for a refund.
