On November 20, 2025, the CPSC issued a product safety warning urging consumers to immediately stop using BLONGKY Portable Electric Car Kettles due to the risk of serious burn injury [1]. Maoming Huazhou Zibailong Technology Co., Ltd. of China, doing business as BLONGKY, distributes the product and has been unresponsive to CPSC requests for a recall or product safety information. Federal law prohibits any person from selling products subject to a CPSC safety warning of this nature.

What Products Are Affected?

The warning covers BLONGKY Portable Electric Car Kettles sold under model number FCC 390 Pro in two colors. The model number is printed on the front of the kettle above the digital temperature display. The affected models are:

  • BLONGKY Car Kettle, Model FCC390 Pro K-Taupe
  • BLONGKY Car Kettle, Model FCC390 Pro K-White

The defective car kettles were sold online at Amazon.com and Walmart.com for between $17 and $40, and have also been found for sale through third-party sellers on eBay.com and other websites. The products were manufactured in China.

What Is the Hazard?

The recalled car kettles present two distinct burn hazards. First, the kettle can unexpectedly spew hot steam or liquid when opened by a consumer. Second, the lid mechanism can fail without warning, causing the top to spring open and eject scalding contents onto the user.

Because the product is designed to heat liquids — often while in a vehicle where the user is in close proximity — either failure mode can expose the face, hands, neck, or torso to dangerous amounts of hot steam or boiling liquid in a fraction of a second.

Incidents and Injuries

The CPSC is aware of at least 11 incidents in which the car kettle spewed hot steam or liquid during use. Of those, nine resulted in burn injuries to consumers, including one report of a second-degree burn — an injury that can cause blistering, severe pain, and may require medical treatment.

What Should Consumers Do?

The CPSC urges consumers to immediately stop using the BLONGKY Portable Electric Car Kettle and dispose of it following local hazardous waste disposal procedures. Consumers should not sell or give away the product under any circumstances.

Any incidents involving the portable car kettle or related injuries should be reported to the CPSC at www.SaferProducts.gov. Consumers may also contact the CPSC hotline at 800-638-2772 (TTY 800-638-8270), available Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET.

Can I File a Lawsuit?

Consumers who purchased the BLONGKY Portable Electric Car Kettle and suffered burn injuries when the kettle spewed hot liquid or the lid unexpectedly opened may have significant legal options. A class action lawsuit could allow affected consumers to seek compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, and other related losses. Contact an attorney as soon as possible to learn more about your rights.
