Latest Updates
On April 29, 2026, Pork King Good announced a voluntary recall of certain Sour Cream & Onion pork rinds and seasoning products. The FDA published the recall announcement on May 5, 2026 [1]. No illnesses or injuries related to these products have been reported to date, and internal testing has not identified contamination in any finished goods. The company is acting out of an abundance of caution.
What Products Are Affected?
The recall covers Pork King Good Sour Cream & Onion Seasoning sold in 3 oz bottles. A total of 2,651 bottles are affected across the following lot numbers and Best If Used By dates:
- Lot Number 329-5, Best If Used By: 5/30/2027
- Lot Number 004-6, Best If Used By: 6/30/2027
- Lot Number 029-6, Best If Used By: 6/30/2027
Consumers should check the lot number and Best If Used By date on their product packaging to determine whether their purchase is included in the recall. The UPC for the affected seasoning bottles is 850008538612.
What Is the Hazard?
The recalled products have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections. Young children, elderly individuals, and those with weakened immune systems face the greatest risk of severe illness.
Healthy individuals infected with Salmonella may experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the infection can spread to the bloodstream and lead to more serious conditions, including arterial infections, endocarditis, and arthritis.
What Caused the Recall?
The recall was triggered by a separate voluntary recall issued by California Dairies, Inc. involving milk powder with potential Salmonella contamination. That milk powder was used as an ingredient in Pork King Good’s Sour Cream & Onion seasoning blend, which is applied to its pork rind products and sold separately in bottled form.
Although neither Pork King Good nor its suppliers have detected contamination in finished products, the company is working with its retail partners to ensure all affected inventory is returned or destroyed. Pork King Good has also notified the USDA and is conducting independent third-party laboratory testing on finished goods.
What Should Consumers Do?
Consumers who purchased the recalled Pork King Good Sour Cream & Onion Seasoning should not consume the product and should stop using it immediately.
