About the Recalled Product
The recalled product is the PACEARTH U-type swing seat, sold as a single unit or a two-pack for attachment to outdoor swing sets or tree branches. The seats are available in green, blue, pink, red, and turquoise, with chains coated in yellow plastic, and were priced between $27 and $57.
Latest Updates
The CPSC issued Recall #27-019 on October 8, 2026, warning that the seats, metal carabiners or quick links, or webbing straps can break during use, posing a fall hazard to users [1]. Pacearth Direct had received at least 30 incident reports, nine of which resulted in injuries including fractures, head injuries, and bruising, before the recall was announced [2].
Sold Exclusively on Amazon for Nearly a Decade
PACEARTH U-type swing seats were sold exclusively through Amazon.com from May 2017 through June 2026 — a span of more than nine years during which approximately 110,550 units reached consumers with no brick-and-mortar retail intermediary performing independent product safety review. A consumer purchasing the seats through Amazon had no way of knowing that the carabiners, quick links, or webbing straps could fail under normal use conditions until the CPSC recall announcement.
The nearly decade-long sales window means that recalled swing seats may be installed in backyards across the country that have been in regular seasonal use for years, with consumers having no reason to associate gradual hardware wear or fatigue with a defect the manufacturer identified only after accumulating injury reports.
Multiple Failure Points in a Product Children Use While Airborne
The CPSC’s hazard description identifies three distinct components that can break — the seat itself, the metal carabiners or quick links used to attach the seat to a chain or rope, and the webbing straps — meaning the risk is not isolated to a single manufacturing defect but is distributed across the product’s entire load-bearing assembly. A swing seat failure at any one of those three points while a child is mid-swing results in an uncontrolled fall from height, with no opportunity to brace or react before impact.
Falls from playground equipment are among the leading causes of childhood emergency department visits in the United States, and a structural failure in a swing seat — as opposed to a user misjudging balance — eliminates the child’s ability to prevent the fall entirely. The nine injuries already reported, including fractures and head injuries, are consistent with the severity of falls that occur when hardware gives way without warning.
Reported Injuries
Pacearth Direct received at least 30 reports of falls connected to the recalled swing seats before the October 8, 2026 recall announcement, resulting in at least nine confirmed injuries. The injuries include fractures, head injuries, and bruising — an injury profile that reflects the impact forces involved when a child or adult falls unexpectedly from a swinging position.
Can I File a Lawsuit?
