What’s the Problem?
This NHTSA Recall began in Jan. 2021, and affects 2002-2006 Nissan Sentra vehicles.
“In the event of a crash, Takata frontal passenger air bag inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling,” NHTSA said. “An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.”
If you purchased a Sentra that is affected by this recall, you should stop driving it immediately and contact your local Nissan dealer for a free inspection, and if necessary, replacement airbag inflator.
Nissan’s number for this recall is PM964.
