Latest Updates
On June 13, 2026, Nara Organics of New York, NY announced a voluntary recall of all lots of its Powdered Infant Formula currently on the market, out of an abundance of caution due to the potential risk of Clostridium botulinum contamination. The FDA published the recall announcement the same day [1]. The recall came after the FDA and CDC contacted Nara Organics on June 12, 2026, regarding three confirmed cases of infant botulism linked to the formula.
What Products Are Affected?
The recall covers all lots of Nara Organics Whole Milk Infant Formula in two sizes: a 700g can (UPC 860013251901) and a 400g can (UPC 860013251918). Sixteen specific lot codes are included in the recall, and the lot code can be found on the bottom of each can.
The recalled formula was distributed nationally at Target retail stores, Target.com, and Nara.com between July 2025 and June 2026. The product was not distributed outside of the United States.
What Is the Hazard?
Infant botulism is a rare but potentially fatal illness that occurs when Clostridium botulinum spores are ingested and colonize an infant’s immature intestinal tract, producing dangerous neurotoxins. Affected infants can experience constipation, poor feeding, drooping eyelids, sluggish pupils, low muscle tone, difficulty sucking and swallowing, a weak or altered cry, generalized weakness, and respiratory difficulty that can progress to respiratory arrest.
Incidents and Injuries
Three infants in California, Washington, and Pennsylvania were hospitalized with infant botulism after consuming Nara formula and were treated with BabyBIG (Botulism Immune Globulin Intravenous). No deaths have been reported, and the three infants were exposed to specific lots 709125280E14F2, 709125288E14F2, and 708125174E14F2.
What Caused the Recall?
The recall was triggered after the CDC identified three infant botulism cases connected to consumption of Nara formula and notified the FDA and the company. To date, Nara infant formula has not tested positive for Clostridium botulinum, but the company is recalling all products currently on the market while the investigation continues.
What Should Parents Do?
Parents and caregivers should stop using any Nara Organics Infant Formula immediately. If a baby has consumed the product and is showing symptoms of infant botulism — including vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, poor feeding, drooping eyelids, or weak crying — parents should contact their healthcare provider for immediate care.
Consumers who purchased formula directly from Nara’s website in May or June 2026 will be automatically refunded. Other consumers with unused product may request a refund at nara.com/pages/refund-request-form, and Target customers may return product to any Target store or follow Target’s online return process.
Can I File a Lawsuit?
Families whose infants were diagnosed with botulism or hospitalized after consuming Nara Organics Infant Formula may have significant legal options. A class action lawsuit could allow affected families to seek compensation for medical expenses, hospitalization costs, pain and suffering, and other related losses. Contact an attorney as soon as possible to learn more about your rights.
