The recall involves JKMax heated blankets and heating pads imported by Jiande Pengshuai Trading Co., Ltd of China and sold exclusively through Amazon.com from September 2022 through July 2026. Approximately 195,000 units are affected, sold individually or as two-packs in blue, gray, brown, and red colorways.
The recalled products are made from machine-washable polyester and feature a detachable white remote control. Affected model numbers include JKMAX-002, JKMAX-7284B, JKMAX-6284B, JKMAX-10090B, and JKMAX-8490B.

What Went Wrong
According to the CPSC, the internal wire heating elements inside the blankets and pads can overheat, creating both fire and burn hazards. This type of failure — where the heating element itself is defective — can occur during normal use, including while the product is in contact with a person’s body during sleep or rest.
The product’s design made it particularly dangerous: a machine-washable heated blanket with a detachable remote is marketed for everyday, extended use, often in bed or on a couch. When a product is designed for prolonged skin contact and the internal heating element can overheat without warning, users may suffer serious burns before they can remove the product.
Reported Injuries
The CPSC reported 577 incidents involving smoking, melting, or burning products — one of the highest incident counts for a heated bedding recall in recent years. Fifty-three of those incidents resulted in documented burn injuries.
Burns from overheating electric blankets can range from superficial redness to deep tissue damage depending on how long the product remained in contact with the skin. Because these products are often used while sleeping, users may not immediately notice the heat or the injury.
