On August 20, 2026, KTM North America Inc. of Amherst, Ohio announced a voluntary recall of 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 model year off-road motorcycles in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) [1]. Approximately 21,040 units are affected in the United States, along with approximately 4,140 units sold in Canada. The motorcycles were manufactured in Austria and imported by KTM North America Inc.
What Models Are Affected?
The recall covers 2021–2024 GASGAS and 2022–2024 Husqvarna off-road motorcycles. GASGAS models are red with the white GASGAS logo on both sides of the shrouds; Husqvarna models are white, blue, and yellow with the Husqvarna logo on both sides. The VIN is located on the right side of the steering head on all makes and models — consumers can check their VIN at gasgas.com/en-us/service/recalls-check.html or husqvarna-motorcycles.com/en-us/service/recalls-check.html.
Affected GASGAS models include the EC 250, EC 300, EC 450F, EX 250, EX 250F, EX 300, EX 350F, EX 450F, EW 500F, MC 125, MC 250, MC 250F, MC 350F, and MC 450F across model years 2021 through 2024. Affected Husqvarna models include the FE 350, FE 450, FE 501, FX 350, FX 450, TE 150, TE 150i, TE 250, TE 250i, TE 300, TE 300i, TE 300 Heritage, FX 350 Heritage, FE 450 Heritage, TX 300, TX 300 Heritage, FE 350w, and FE 501w across 2022 through 2024 model years. The recalled motorcycles were sold at GASGAS and Husqvarna authorized dealers nationwide from September 2020 through June 2023 for between $7,300 and $13,000.
What Is the Hazard?
The rear brake caliper on the recalled motorcycles can crack or break, reducing the brake system’s ability to slow or stop the motorcycle effectively. On off-road terrain — where sudden obstacles, steep descents, and unpredictable surfaces are common — a reduction in rear brake effectiveness can cause riders to lose control and crash, posing a serious risk of injury or death.
