Latest Updates
CPSC announced the truck’s circuit board can overheat and ignite, posing fire and burn hazards. [1] Shenzhen Luobei Trading Co. has received 11 reports of the ride-on trucks catching fire, sparking, burning, melting, overheating and smoking, with no injuries reported. [1]
11 Fire and Overheating Incidents
Shenzhen Luobei received 11 total reports of thermal failures including fires, sparking, burning, melting, overheating, and smoking. The multiple incident types demonstrate systematic circuit board defects across the recalled units.
Circuit Board Overheating
The circuit boards generate excessive heat during normal operation. The elevated temperatures cause component failure and thermal runaway leading to ignition.
Circuit Board Ignition
The overheated circuit boards ignite, creating fires within the ride-on trucks. The burning electrical components produce flames and smoke endangering children using the vehicles.
Model DLS-K03 Specifications
The recall covers Model DLS-K03 24V 2-Seater Ride-On Trucks sold in red, black, white, and pink colors. “4×4” appears in black on the tailgate and “TURBO DIESEL” is written in black on the truck sides.
Branding and Identification
The brand name “FUNTOK” and model number “DLS-K03” are printed on the User Manual cover and the exterior retail packaging. These identifiers help consumers determine if their trucks are affected.
Sold October Through December 2025
The trucks sold online at Amazon.com, Walmart.com, and TikTok.com for approximately $240. The three-month sales period distributed nearly 2,000 defective vehicles to families.
Full Refund After Disabling Truck
Consumers receive full refunds after cutting the battery wires and submitting photographs. Consumers must write “VOID,” their name, and the date on the hood in permanent marker and photograph the cut wires.
Lead-Acid Battery Disposal Requirements
Consumers must dispose of lead-acid batteries at household hazardous waste collection centers or battery recycling locations. The batteries cannot be thrown in trash or general curbside recycling bins.
Children Trapped in Burning Vehicles
Children riding in the trucks when circuit boards ignite face entrapment in burning vehicles. Young children lack the ability to quickly exit during emergencies, increasing burn injury risks.
Thermal Burns From Flames
The ignited circuit boards produce flames causing thermal burns to children’s skin. Direct contact with fire or heated plastic components creates first, second, and third-degree burns.
Smoke Inhalation Injuries
The burning trucks generate toxic smoke from melting plastic and electrical components. Inhaled smoke causes respiratory damage and potential unconsciousness in confined spaces.
Property Damage From Fires
The burning trucks ignite nearby combustibles including garage structures, outdoor furniture, and residential siding. Electrical fires spread rapidly when trucks are charging indoors or stored near flammable materials.
Design Defect in Circuit Board
The circuit boards that overheat and ignite during normal use are defectively designed. Safe electrical systems require thermal management preventing component temperatures from reaching ignition points.
Inadequate Thermal Protection
The circuit boards lack sufficient heat sinks, thermal fuses, or temperature sensors preventing overheating. Proper electrical design includes failsafe mechanisms shutting down circuits before thermal runaway.
Failure to Test Under Load Conditions
Shenzhen Luobei failed to adequately test circuit boards under sustained operational loads revealing overheating tendencies. Reasonable testing requires extended runtime simulations identifying thermal failures.
Breach of Implied Warranty
Shenzhen Luobei breached implied warranties by selling ride-on trucks that catch fire during normal use. Children’s vehicles causing fires fail basic safety requirements for toys.
Negligent Product Design and Testing
Manufacturing ride-on trucks without adequate circuit board thermal testing constitutes negligence. Toy manufacturers must ensure electrical systems do not create fire hazards before marketing to families with young children.
Contact an Attorney
If your child suffered burn injuries or your property was damaged by FUNTOK ride-on truck fires, contact a product liability attorney. Preserve the truck remnants, purchase records, and medical or fire department documentation.
