Latest Updates
On May 7, 2026, Jonco Industries, Inc. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin announced a voluntary recall of select White Cheddar Seasoning products. The FDA published the recall announcement on May 8, 2026 [1]. No illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall to date.
What Products Are Affected?
The recall covers consumer-sized White Cheddar Seasoning products distributed through retail stores in limited quantities. The following specific products are affected:
- Williams Sonoma–branded Popcorn Sampler Gift Box containing a White Cheddar Seasoning component (lot code: 088594-2-1)
- Fireworks Popcorn Poppings & Toppings gift set sold at West Allis Cheese and Sausage (lot code: 088594-5-1)
- Fireworks White Cheddar Seasoning, 1.6 oz jars, sold at West Allis Cheese and Sausage (lot code: 088594-7-1)
Lot codes are printed on the product packaging. Consumers should check their packaging carefully before consuming any of these products.
What Is the Hazard?
The recalled products have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections. Young children, elderly individuals, and those with weakened immune systems are at greatest risk.
Healthy individuals infected with Salmonella may experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the infection can enter the bloodstream and lead to more severe conditions such as arterial infections, endocarditis, and arthritis.
What Caused the Recall?
The recall was initiated after Jonco Industries was notified by its seasoning supplier, JCB Flavors, of a potential Salmonella concern linked to an upstream milk powder ingredient. That milk powder was supplied by California Dairies, Inc. and used in the production of the affected White Cheddar Seasoning products.
Upon learning of the issue, Jonco Industries immediately ceased distribution of the affected products, notified its customers, and placed all remaining inventory on hold.
What Should Consumers Do?
Consumers who purchased any of the affected products are urged not to consume them. The products should be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Consumers with questions may contact Jonco Industries at 414-449-2000 during normal business hours.
Can I File a Lawsuit?
Consumers who purchased recalled Fireworks Popcorn or Williams Sonoma White Cheddar Seasoning products — or who suffered illness as a result — may be entitled to compensation. A class action lawsuit could allow affected consumers to recover damages for medical expenses, lost wages, and other losses. Contact an attorney to discuss your legal options.
