Recall Details and Affected Products
The recalled products are:
- Blue Wave brand above-ground pools 48 inches and taller – all pools contain a compression strap (also called a reinforcing belt) that wraps around the pool on the outside of the vertical support poles and may create a foothold, allowing a child to access the pool and drown. Model information is printed on the original box and instruction manual, and the Blue Wave logo is printed on the liner on the outside of the pool.

Sold at The Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Dunham’s Sports retail stores nationwide and online at Amazon.com, Walmart.com, and Wayfair.com from January 2021 through July 2025 for between $600 and $2,000 depending on the size and model. The compression strap creates a foothold that allows children to access the pool even if the ladder is removed. Recall announced December 18, 2025 (CPSC No. 26-263) [1].
Consumers should contact Blue Wave to request a free repair kit. In the interim, consumers should ensure that children cannot access the pool unattended or, alternatively, drain the pool until the repair can be installed.
Health Risks
- Child can use the compression strap as a foothold to climb into the pool.
- Child can drown even when the ladder is removed.
- Risk of death from drowning.
- Risk of serious injury from near-drowning incidents.
Symptoms of a Problem
- Compression strap around the outside of pool legs is accessible to children.
- Strap is positioned at a height that can be used as a foothold.
- Pool can be accessed by children without using a ladder.
- Children found attempting to climb pool using the compression strap.

- Look for the model number on the original box or instruction manual, or check the Blue Wave logo on the liner.
- Inspect the pool for a compression strap (reinforcing belt) around the outside of the vertical support poles.
- Contact Blue Wave toll-free at 800-603-0475 (9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday) to request a free repair kit.
