What’s the Problem?
According to a CPSC Recall Notice published on January 12, 2023, this action affects about 61,000 Bissell Cordless Multi-Surface Wet Dry Vacuums Models 2551, 2551W and 25519.
Bissell initiated this recall after the company received at least 66 reports of the wet dry vacs smoking and emitting a burning odor. These reports included 5 incidences of the battery pack catching on fire, 3 of which resulted in property damage and 1 causing a burn injury.
Affected Bissell Vacuums were sold online and at Walmart stores nationwide from January 2019 through November 2022 for about $360.
Consumers who purchased a recalled Bissell Vacuum should stop using it immediately and contact Bissell for a free battery pack replacement.
