What’s the Problem?
This recall affects the following ArmaLite rifles:
- ArmaLite AR-10
- ArmaLite SPR
- ArmaLite MOD 1
- ArmaLite SPR MOD 2
- ArmaLite M15
- ArmaLite Eagle-15
ArmaLite issued the recall after determining that the disconnector and hammer on the above rifles were not properly manufactured and can fail to ensure proper engagement of the hammer.
“This can result in an unsafe condition in which the rifle doubles (discharging twice when the trigger is pulled one time),” according to the recall notice.
Consumers who purchased a rifle that is affected by this recall should stop using it immediately and contact ArmaLite to either have the rifle returned or evaluated at a local firearms dealer, free of charge.
“This is an important safety issue and we are therefore implementing a plan so that the affected rifles can be serviced and that the non-performing disconnector’s and hammers can be replaced,” ArmaLite said.
