Recall Details and Affected Products

The recalled products are Agrish-branded adult portable bed rails in three models:

  • Model 2512 – approximately 11 inches wide and 39 inches in height
  • Model 2513 – approximately 12 inches wide and 42 inches in height
  • Model 2516 – approximately 37 inches wide and 45 inches in height

All recalled bed rails feature white tubing with rounded gray foam rubber handle grips. Some models include gray fabric pouch, support legs, and motion-sensor light. Model numbers are printed in the owner’s manual.

Shenzhen Yunshangqinyang E-commerce Ltd., doing business as Agrish Direct of China, recalled approximately 5,000 adult portable bed rails on January 8, 2026 (CPSC Recall No. 26-165) [1]. Sold on Amazon.com from April 2025 through October 2025 for between $50 and $80. Manufactured by Zhongshan Lebo Medical Co., Ltd. of China.

The bed rails violate mandatory standards for adult portable bed rails because users can become entrapped within the bed rail or between the bed rail and the side of the mattress, posing serious entrapment hazard and risk of death by asphyxiation.

Health Risks

  • Death by asphyxiation from entrapment.
  • Serious injuries from becoming entrapped within bed rail structure.
  • Entrapment between bed rail and mattress side.
  • Falls from defective bed rails (one reported incident).
  • Suffocation from inability to escape entrapment.
  • Brain damage from oxygen deprivation.

One Fall Incident Reported

The manufacturer received one report of a consumer fall involving an Agrish adult bed rail with model number 2512. This incident demonstrates that the defective bed rails are not only creating entrapment hazards but are also failing in their basic function of preventing falls from beds.

Adult portable bed rails are specifically designed to help users get in and out of bed safely and to prevent falls. When these safety devices themselves cause falls, they represent a complete failure of their intended purpose. The fall incident involving model 2512 suggests the bed rails may be structurally unstable or improperly designed.

Entrapment and Asphyxiation Hazards

The Agrish bed rails violate mandatory federal safety standards by creating spaces where users can become entrapped. When bed rails do not meet dimensional and structural requirements, users can slip into dangerous positions where their bodies become wedged within the rail structure or between the rail and the mattress.

Once entrapped, users often cannot free themselves, and their body position may restrict breathing. Many bed rail users are elderly, have limited mobility, or are recovering from illness, making escape from entrapment nearly impossible. Asphyxiation can occur within minutes when the chest is compressed or the airway blocked.

Three Different Models, Same Deadly Defects

The recall affects three distinct Agrish models spanning different size ranges. Model 2512 is the smallest at 11 inches wide by 39 inches high. Model 2513 is slightly larger at 12 inches wide by 42 inches high. Model 2516 is substantially wider at 37 inches wide by 45 inches high.

Despite their different dimensions, all three models share the same fundamental defect: they violate mandatory safety standards for adult portable bed rails. This suggests the design flaws are inherent to the Agrish product line rather than isolated to a specific model. Whether consumers purchased the smaller bedside assist rails or the larger full-width models, they received products that create life-threatening hazards.

Sold Exclusively on Amazon

The Agrish bed rails were sold exclusively through Amazon.com from April 2025 through October 2025, a seven-month period. This distribution through a major online marketplace meant thousands of consumers purchased these non-compliant bed rails believing they met federal safety standards.

The exclusive Amazon distribution raises questions about product safety screening and verification processes on major e-commerce platforms. When international sellers market medical and safety equipment through Amazon, consumers expect these products have been vetted for compliance with U.S. safety regulations.

Identifying Features

All recalled Agrish bed rails share common identifying features that distinguish them from compliant products. The white tubing construction combined with rounded gray foam rubber handle grips is characteristic of the recalled models. Some units include additional features like gray fabric pouches for storage, support legs for stability, and motion-sensor lights for nighttime visibility.

The model numbers (2512, 2513, 2516) are not marked on the bed rails themselves but are printed in the owner’s manual. Consumers who have discarded their manuals should contact Agrish Direct to verify whether their bed rails are included in the recall based on physical features and approximate dimensions.

Disposal and Refund Process

To obtain a full refund, consumers must register for the recall at http://www.agrish.online/recall. After registration, Agrish Direct provides specific instructions for properly disposing of the recalled bed rails. Once consumers confirm disposal according to the instructions, they receive full refunds.

This disposal-first refund process ensures that defective bed rails are removed from circulation and cannot be resold or transferred to other vulnerable users. Federal law prohibits the sale of recalled products, and proper disposal prevents these dangerous items from reaching secondary markets.

Potential for an Amazon Bed Rails Recall Class Action Lawsuit

Consumers affected by these recalled bed rails may be entitled to compensation through class action litigation. Potential claims include:

  • Violation of mandatory federal safety standards for adult portable bed rails.
  • Sale of defective products creating entrapment and asphyxiation hazards.
  • Marketing safety devices that caused falls instead of preventing them.
  • Failure to meet dimensional and structural safety requirements.
  • Placing vulnerable populations at risk of death by asphyxiation.
  • Economic losses from purchasing dangerous, non-compliant products.
  • Injuries from falls caused by defective bed rails.

Potential compensation may cover medical expenses for fall injuries, emergency room treatment, wrongful death damages if asphyxiation occurred, product purchase costs, refund processing expenses, and damages for emotional distress. One fall incident has been reported, and consumers who were injured using these defective bed rails may be entitled to significant compensation for their injuries and suffering.

Federal Law Prohibits Resale

Federal law makes it illegal to sell, resell, or distribute recalled products. Agrish bed rail owners must dispose of their products according to recall instructions rather than selling them online, donating to medical facilities or individuals, or giving them to family members. The disposal requirement ensures these dangerous bed rails cannot reach other vulnerable users who might suffer entrapment or falls.
