What’s the Problem?
A joint investigation conducted by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and local and state health authorities have linked this cyclospora outbreak to the following products:
- ALDI Little Salad Bar Brand Garden Salad from ALDI grocery stores
- Hy-Vee Brand Garden Salad from Hy-Vee grocery stores
- Signature Farms Brand Garden Salad from Jewel-Osco
ALDI recalled its Little Salad Bar Garden Salad due to cyclospora contamination on June 22, 2020.
At least 76 cyclospora illnesses, including 16 hospitalizations, have been linked to these products as of June 19, 2020. Illness onset dates range from May 11, 2020, through June 14, 2020.
States reporting cyclospora infections associated with the above garden salads include:
- Iowa (28)
- Illinois (23)
- Kansas (1)
- Minnesota (10)
- Missouri (7)
- Nebraska (7)
A CDC analysis of epidemiologic data has identified the salads as a likely source of the cyclospora outbreak. The investigation is ongoing and there may be additional retailers and products impacted.
